Men's Soccer shut down by California

Derksen_PJ.jpgCalifornia (PA) notched a goal early on and then padded its lead with two more in the second half to beat the Mountain Cats 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats dropped to 1-11-2 overall (0-8-1 PSAC West).

Vulcans' freshman Brady Olsen recorded two goals in the second half on three shots on goal and provided an assist in the first half.

Evan Blunkosky found the back of the net in the 17th minute. The Vulcans, who improved to 4-10-1 overall (2-7 PSAC West), then received scores from Olsen in the 51st minute on an assist from Chance Pursifull and later in the 66th minute on an assist courtesy of Blunkosky.

California goalkeeper Payton Smith faced eight shots and made four saves.

Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper PJ Derksen faced 23 shots and compiled nine saves. Alexzander Toto totaled two shots on goal.

The Mountain Cats conclude the 2022 season with a trip to Gannon slated for Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
