Five double-digit scorers helped Malone (OH) defeat the Mountain Cats 96-56 on Saturday afternoon at Osborne Hall in Canton, Ohio.
As a team, the Pioneers shot 30 of 57 (52.6%) from the field and connected on 28 of their 35 free throw attempts. They also finished 8 of 16 from 3-point range.
Ashley Norling scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed four rebounds for Pitt-Johnstown. Cassidy Crawford and Olivia Fasick provided 10 points apiece.
The Pioneers led 24-10 after the first quarter and carried that momentum into the second to build a 55-21 halftime lead.
Malone's Alexis Hutchison racked up game-highs of 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Emma Kallas and Brooklyn Troyer each added 19 points.
Pitt-Johnstown returns to the Sports Center for its home opener slated for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against Salem (WV) University. After visiting West Virginia State University on Nov. 28, the Mountain Cats open PSAC play with a visit to Bloomsburg scheduled for Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
