
For the second straight week and the fifth time in 2021-22, Pitt-Johnstown junior forward
John Paul Kromka was named the PSAC West Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week when the conference office announced this week's awards on Monday.
Kromka, a two-time PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year Award recipient, averaged 19.7 points on 73.5% (25-34) shooting from the floor and 9-10 free-throws in three Mountain Cat games last week.. He also averaged 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.7 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game.
Kromka scored 17 points on 7-13 shooting and 3-4 free-throws, collected a game-high nine rebounds (5 defensive rebounds), dished out three assists, made two steals, and blocked a game-high four shots in 67-66 loss at Gannon last Monday.
He followed that effort up with 23 points (10-12 FG, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds (4 defensive rebounds), five assists, two blocks and one steal in Wednesday's 84-81 victory over Slippery Rock in the Sports Center.
In Saturday's 90-58 win at Clarion, Kromka scored 19 points on 8-9 shooting and 3-3 from the line. He also grabbed six defensive rebounds, had three assists, and blocked a pair of shots.
Kromka was also named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on November 15, December 6, January 24, and February 7.
