
For the third consecutive year, Pitt-Johnstown junior forward
John Paul Kromka was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-District® II Men's Basketball Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) when this year's teams were released on Thursday. Kromka, who has a 3.922 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, will advance to the national ballot for voting to become an Academic All-American.
The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academically, Kromka, now a three-time First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, earned First-Team Academic All-America honors in 2020-21 and was a Third-Team Academic All-American in 2019-20.
Athletically, Kromka was a 2019-20 Second-Team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region selection and a Third-Team CoSIDA Academic American. He is also a two-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Defensive Player of Year, a 2019-20 First-Team All-PSAC West and a 2018-19 2nd-Team All-PSAC West selection.
In 2021-22, Kromka leads Pitt-Johnstown in scoring (17.8 ppg.), rebounding (8.0 rpg.), blocked shots (72), and field goal percentage (67.4%). He also ranks second on the team in assists (77) and free-throws made (77).
Kromka currently ranks 14
th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List with 1,381 points and sixth on the All-Time Rebounding List, with 698 rebounds, one rebound away from Chris Gilliam (2004-08) and A.J. Leahey (2013-17) for fourth-place.
Nationally, Kromka leads NCAA Division II in total blocks (77) and is fifth in blocks per game (2.96) and sixth field goal percentage (67.4%).

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes who are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
