The 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships were held this past weekend, February 26
th and 27
th, at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome on the campus of Edinboro University. This meet was host to several historic performances for the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown Women's Track and Field team.
The 4x400 meter relay team, comprised of
Mayah Charity,
Abbey-Gale Brooks,
Kara McKenzie, and
Lydia Robling, finished 9
th with a time 4:08.47. This time placed them ahead of Seton Hill, Lock Haven, and Edinboro and marks the second-best time in program history.
In the first round of 60-meter dash heats,
Kara McKenzie finished 10
th with her time of 7.95 seconds, missing the finals by only 0.01 seconds. This time nets her the third best time in program history.
Mayah Charity also ran in this event, and she placed 13
th with her time of 8.02 seconds. This earned her the fourth best spot in Mountain Cat history, just behind McKenzie.
In the 200-meter dash,
Lydia Robling won her heat with a time of 26.13 seconds. This earned her a spot in the finals where she ultimately placed 7
th with a time of 26.78 seconds. Her heat time of 26.13 seconds ranks her number 2 all-time in the history of the program.
Robling kept up her good form in the 400-meter dash where she again, won her heat and qualified for the finals. Her initial time for the 400-meter dash was 58.05 seconds. She then won heat one of the finals and placed second overall with a final time of 57.4 seconds.
In the 60-meter hurdles
Kara McKenzie placed 4
th in her heat to qualify for the finals where she ultimately placed 7
th overall. Her heat time and her final time were both 9.38 seconds which ranks her second all-time in the program's history.
In long jump,
Janiah Tutt placed 9
th with a jump of 5.19 meters.
2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships are to be held March 11th and 12th in Pittsburgh, Kansas.
