Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora and the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat softball team will make their 2022 home debuts on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader against the D'Youville (NY) Saints in the first ever meeting between the two teams.  Games are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.

Pitt-Johnstown got off to a strong start by posting a 6-1 record at The Spring Games in Florida last week.  The Mountain Cats began with four straight wins, including a 7-3 victory over American International (MA) in the season-opener that saw Taylor Mendicino belt a pair of homer runs.  After a tough 1-0 loss to Lake Erie on Thursday, Pitt-Johnstown dealt the College of Long Island a 6-5 loss and Saint Michael's (VT) College a 6-2 setback, highlighted by Kalya Miehl's grand slam, to wrap up the trip on Friday.  Alyssa Hileman posted a perfect 4-0 record in the circle for the Mountain Cats.

Prior to Tuesday's scheduled doubleheader at Mercyhurst, second-year Coach Megan Asham's D'Youville Saints went 6-1 on their trip to Florida. The Saints closed out the trip with a 9-0 win over Eastern Nazarene and a 9-1 victory over Anderson (IN) on Friday.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Bowie State (MD) for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, before returning home to host a pair of non-conference games against Shippensburg on Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
