SHIPPENSBURG:  SCHEDULE     |     ROSTER     |     STATS

The Pitt-Johnstown softball team will host a non-conference doubleheader against Shippensburg, Friday afternoon at V.E. Erickson Complex.  Games times are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.

These games were originally scheduled to be played on Sunday, but the teams agreed to move them up to Friday due to the threat of inclement weather over the weekend.

Pitt-Johnstown, under Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora, comes into the doubleheader at 6-3.  After posting a 6-1 record on last week's Florida Trip, the Mountain Cats suffered 6-4 and 3-1 losses to D'Youville (NY) in Wednesday's home-opener.  Taylor Mendicino belted her team-leading third home run and collected three hits in the doubleheader to lead Pitt-Johnstown.  Olivia Porter, Lauren Gohacki, and Kelsi Terzolino all had a pair of hits for the Mountain Cats.

Head Coach Alison Van Scyoc's (5th Year) Shippensburg Raiders made it seven straight wins and improved to 10-4 on the year after sweeping Chestnut Hill, 7-0 and 11-2, Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia.  Katelyn Minney homered and drove in a pair in the opener, while Maelynn Leber, Morgan Lindsay, and Morgan Brumbaugh all homered for the Raiders in the nightcap.

Pitt-Johnstown and Shippensburg have split the eight previous meetings between the two teams.  Last season, the Raiders secured 6-5 and 10-6 wins in Shippensburg on April 13.

Pitt-Johnstown starts a stretch of 10 straight road games with a pair of non-conference games at Bowie State (MD) on Saturday and PSAC-West doubleheaders at IUP on Wednesday and Seton Hill next Friday.  The Mountain Cats return home to host conference doubleheaders against Slippery Rock on April 8 and Mercyhurst on April 9 at V.E. Erickson Complex.
