Carly Santillo banged out four hits, while
Olivia Porter and
Tori Radvan each drove in two runs to lead the Pitt-Johnstown softball team to a 6-0, victory over Shippensburg in Friday's first game of a non-conference doubleheader at V.E. Erickson Complex. The Raiders answered with a 10-0 win in game two to secure the split. The Mountain Cats are now 7-4 to begin the season.
In game one, Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead, and
Alyssa Hileman did the rest in the circle on her way to a complete-game, 6-0, shutout that snapped Shippensburg's seven-game winning streak.
The Mountain Cats struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on Radvan's two-run base hit.
It remained that way until the fifth inning when Pitt-Johnstown broke it open with four more runs. Santillo's RBI single chased home
Hailei Markee, who entered the game as a pinch-runner for
Kayla Miehl, before Santillo scored on
Laura Fox's hit to make it 4-0. The Mountain Cats then used Porter's two-run single that plated Fox and
Lauren Gohacki to set the final at 6-0.
Hileman improved to 5-1 on the year after holding Shippensburg scoreless on six hits in seven innings of work. Hileman struck out one and didn't allow a walk.
Santillo went 4-for-4 with an RBI, and Porter added two hits and two RBI to lead the Pitt-Johnstown offensive attack. Miehl and Gohacki each went 2-for-3, while Fox doubled and drove in a run, and Radvan added a hit and a pair of RBI.
In the nightcap, the Raiders climbed out to a four-run fourth inning lead on its way to the split with a 10-0 victory.

After taking a quick, 1-0, lead in the top of the first, Shippensburg got a two-tun homer in the third, and another run in the fourth to make it 4-0.
The Raiders maintained the lead then added six more runs over three final three innings, including a three-run home run in the top of the seventh, to close out the victory.
Porter collected two hits in three at-bats for the Mountain Cats.
Pitt-Johnstown starter
Julie Shinavski took the loss and slipped to 2-1 after surrendering four runs on seven hits, while striking out two and walking two. Radvan pitched the last three innings and gave up six runs on six hits. Radvan fanned two and walked none.
With the split, Shippensburg is now 11-5.
The Mountain Cats visit Bowie State (MD) for a pair of non-conference games on Saturday to begin a stretch of five straight road doubleheaders. Pitt-Johnstown will return home to host PSAC West doubleheaders against Slippery Rock on April 8 and Mercyhurst on April 9 at V.E. Erickson Complex.
