The Pitt-Johnstown softball team will kick-off PSAC
West play with a doubleheader against Slippery Rock, on Monday starting at 1:00 p.m. at
Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg.Â

Pitt-Johnstown, under
Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora, will kick-off PSAC West action against Slippery Rock. The Mountain, Cats, 12-9 overall, are coming off a 4-3 and 11-2 non-conference sweep at Salem (WV) on Monday.

Taylor Mendicino had two hits and two RBI and
Julia Mooney added two hits and an RBI in the opener.Â
Maddie Flowers connected for a three-run home run,
Tori Radvan had two hits and drove in three, and
Kayla Miehl added three hits and an RBI in the run-shortened nightcap.

Coach Stacey Rice (8
th Year) Slippery Rock team, 11-12-1 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC West, had its seven-game unbeaten streak snapped with a pair of losses to Gannon begin PSAC-play on Saturday. The Golden Knights took the opener, 1-0, before completing the sweep with a 5-3 victory in game two.

Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock have met eight times since 2015 and The Rock holds a 5-3 advantage in the series. The teams met four times in 2021 with each team winning a pair of games on its home field. On April 23, The Rock earned 5-4 and 1-0 victories in Slippery Rock, before the Mountain Cats bounced back with 8-0 and 4-2 wins in Johnstown the next day.

Pitt-Johnstown is also scheduled host a PSAC doubleheader against Mercyhurst on Tuesday starting at 2:30 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex, before traveling to conference doubleheaders at Gannon on Thursday and at Edinboro on Friday.
