Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora and the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat softball team, coming off of Monday's PSAC sweep over Slippery Rock, will host Mercyhurst for a pair of conference games Wednesday afternoon at V.E. Erickson Complex.  Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora's Pitt-Johnstown squad is 14-9 overall and 2-0  in the PSAC West action after sweeping a pair of games from slippery Rock on Monday.  The Mountain Cats connected for four homers in an 11-8 victory in game one, before Kayla Miehl's sixth inning grand slam erased a three-run deficit and lifted Pitt-Johnstown to a 5-4 win in the nightcap.
      Head Coach Leanne Baker's (9^th Year) Mercyhurst team comes in at 18-9 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC West after dropping a pair of games to IUP on Friday.  Kaci Alderson had four hits, including a homer and four RBI, but the Lakers suffered a 6-5 loss in game one.  In the nightcap, Madison Frye added three hits in a 4-3 setback.  Mercyhurst opened PSAC-play by splitting a pair of games with Edinboro on April 2.
 
Mercyhurst holds a 6-4 advantage in the series that dates back to the 2015 season.  Last year, the Mountain Cats and Lakers played three doubleheaders.  On April 3, the teams split two PSAC games in Johnstown, before the Lakers completed the conference series with 6-0 and 3-2 wins in Erie on April 5.  On April 18 at V.E. Erickson Complex, Mercyhurst took game one of a non-conference doubleheader, 10-4, and Pitt-Johnstown answered with a 4-2 win in the nightcap.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC doubleheaders at Gannon on Thursday and Edinboro on Friday.  Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home games on April 23 when Seton Hill visits for a pair of PSAC games.
