Pitt-Johnstown Softball Drops Pair of Non-Conference Games at Bloomsburg

Radvan_Tori.jpgTori Radvan belted a home run, but Bloomsburg swept a pair of non-conference games from the Pitt-Johnstown softball team, Saturday afternoon in Bloomsburg.  After 4-1 win in the opener, the Huskies took the nightcap, 10-2 in five innings.  The Mountain Cats are now 10-9.
 
In game one, the Mountain Cats loaded the bases to start the top of the third and took a 1-0 lead on Kayla's Miehl's RBI single that chased home Olivia Porter.
 
Back-to-back two-out singles, followed by Nicolette Ray's two-run double in the Bloomsburg third put the Huskies on top, before Bella Culp scored on an Alyssa Hileman wild pitch in the fifth to make it 3-1.
 
Culp then added an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to set the final at 4-1.
 
Hileman suffered the loss after surrendering four runs (3 earned) on eight hits in six innings.
 
Taylor Mendicino went 2-for-3 and Miehl had a hit and an RBI for Pitt-Johnstown.  Kelsi Terzolino, Radvan, and Porter also had hits for the Mountain Cats.
 
Culp had two hits and drove in one, and Ray collected two RBI for the Huskies.
 
Bloomsburg's Callie Sowers earned the complete-game win after allowing one run on six hits, while striking out six and walking three.
 
In game two, Bloomsburg took a first inning lead on Erin DelPierre's two-out RBI base hit, before Julie Mooney led off the Pitt-Johnstown third with a walk and eventually scored to tie it on Mendicino's sacrifice fly.
 
However, the Huskies used a nine-run third inning to open-up a 10-1 advantage.
 
Radvan's solo homer to left-center in the Mountain Cat fourth cut it to 10-2.
 
Porter went 2-for-3 with a double, while Radvan homered and Mendicino drove in one for Pitt-Johnstown.  Carly Santillo and Hailei Markee also had hits for the Mountain Cats.
 
Radvan started in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown took the loss after giving up 10 runs (7 earned) on 10 hits over the first 2.2 innings.  Julie Shinavski held Bloomsburg scoreless on one hit over the final 1.1 innings.
 
With the sweep, the Huskies evened their record at 10-10.
 
The Mountain Cats visit Salem (WV) for a non-conference doubleheader on Monday, before returning home to open PSAC-West play with doubleheaders against Slippery Rock on Friday and Mercyhurst on Saturday at V.E. Erickson Complex.
