Lualis Alvarado, selected to the All-Tournament Team, finished with a match-high 16 kills and Abby Leitner added another 13, as the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team closed out the Seton Hill University Tournament in a comeback win over Lock Haven University. The Mountain Cats improved to 5-6 on the year with the victory.
The Mountain Cats began the match by dropping the first two sets 25-14 and 25-19, respectively, but responded by sweeping the final three sets with 25-17, 25-11, and 15-13 wins.
Pitt-Johnstown was greatly aided in victory by Alvarado, who along with 16 kills also managed to earn 16 digs, as well as Adiamar Beaz, who finished with 14 digs.
Liredys Casiano also stood out for the Mountain Cats, collecting 14 digs, while Mallory Pinske racked up nine kills.Â
Christen Maloney and Katelyn Courtney added nine and five kills respectively for the Mountain Cats, while Gabi DeRenzo earned nine digs in the comeback win.
Lock Haven, who dropped to 0-10 with the loss, was led by Gabriela Fialova with 15 kills and match-high 24 digs. Madison Eckley and Kelly Gaston added 17 and 10 digs, respectively, for the Talon.
The Mountain Cats will return home to face Salem (WV) University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Sports Center.
