Alexzander Toto put the Mountain Cats on the board in the 72nd minute, but it wasn't enough to overcome several second-half goals by Slippery Rock in a 4-1 PSAC West-opening loss on Saturday. With the loss, Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 0-3-1 on the season, and 0-1 in conference play.
Joe Skillicorn scored the game's first points in the 62nd minute to give Slippery Rock a 1-0 lead. The Rock would follow this up with two more goals over the next ten minutes, with one each from Shaun Spencer and Arturo Hernandis.
Toto scored Pitt-Johnstown's lone goal moments later, beating Slippery Rock goalie Hossam Aly on a penalty kick to make the score 3-1.
Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper PJ Derksen faced made five saves and allowed four goals while facing 14 shots. On the other side, Aly faced six shots and made four saves while allowing one goal for Slippery Rock.
The Mountain Cats will return home on Tuesday to face Central Penn College at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown soccer field.
