Ninth-ranked Mercyhurst Downs Mountain Cats in PSAC West Matchup

Johnstown, PA

Ninth-ranked Mercyhurst University scored four second-half goals after a scoreless first half on its' way to a 4-0 PSAC Western Division victory on Saturday afternoon in Johnstown. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-4-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Lockie Fay opened up scoring right as the second half began, in the 46th minute, before Sean Kerrigan scored in the 60th minute to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. 

Mercyhurst tacked on two more goals to set the final score at 4-0.

PJ Derksen and Sage Parsley both played in goal for the Mountain Cats. Derksen played the first 62 minutes, making four saves and allowing two goals, while Parsley played the final 28 minutes and made a save while also allowing two goals. The goalkeepers combined to face 31 shots from Mercyhurst.

The Lakers improved to 9-0-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play with the win.

The Mountain Cats will remain at home to host a PSAC West match against Gannon on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
