John Paul Kromka claims fourth PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week honor

Pitt-Johnstown forward John Paul Kromka was named PSAC Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season when the conference office announced the week's award winners on Monday.

The 6-foot-7 senior, who recently became Pitt-Johnstown's all-time leader in blocked shots, averaged 20 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.5 steals and a block over the last two games.

He recorded a game-high 23 points, 16 coming in the second half, on an efficient 8 of 12 shooting to pair with six rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 72-68 victory over Slippery Rock on Saturday.

In a 79-71 setback at Seton Hill last Wednesday, Kromka notched a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. He also had two blocks, two steals and an assist.

Kromka also received the award on Nov. 14, Dec. 20 and Jan. 9. He garnered the accolade six times over the course of the 2021-22 season on his way to winning his third consecutive PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year honor.
