Megan Giesey made five saves for Pitt-Johnstown, but Clarion was able to notch the lone goal of the match with just under 12 minutes remaining to lift the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 PSAC West victory over the Mountain Cats in the 2023 season finale, Friday night in Clarion. Pitt-Johnstown closed out the year at 3-10-5 overall and 3-9-4 in conference-play.
After faced nine Clarion shots and made four saves to keep the opening half scoreless,
Haley Neidig got the Pitt-Johnstown offensive attack going with five consecutive shots in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
However, it remained scoreless until Clarion's Kylee Cross found the back of the net in the 79
th minute to put the Golden Eagles on top 1-0.
Neidig recorded seven of Pitt-Johnstown's 10 shots, while
Sophia Lamesta accounted for the other three Mountain Cat shots.


Giesey suffered the loss after seeing 17 shots, making five saves, and allowing one goal.
Clarion's Alex Valez and Sage Sherk combine in goal for the combined shutout. Valex played the first 70 minutes and made two saves, and Sherk played the final 20 minutes and also made a pair of saves.
With the win, the Golden Eagles' season ended at 4-10-4 overall and 4-9-3 in the PSAC West.
