The Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball team boasted four players on the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Basketball Team when the organization announced this year's honorees on Tuesday.

The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

They include, senior guard Joe Batt, senior forwards John Paul Kromka and Caiden Landis, and sophomore guard Ryan Smith.

Batt, who became the Mountain Cats' 34th 1,000-poiont scorer on Saturday has a 3.582 overall GPA in Psychology, why Kromka, an All-American on the court and a two-time First-Team Academic All-American, is Pitt-Johnstown's all-time leader in blocked shots and is the team's leader in scoring (16.4 ppg.), rebounding (7.0 rpg.), field goal percentage (67.5%), steals (32), and blocks (66).  He has 3.938 GPA in Mechanical Engineering.

Landis has a 3.807 GPA in Education, and Smith, the 2021-22 Pitt-Johnstown's Male Freshman Athlete of the Year, has a 3.511 GPA in Mathematics.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
