
Julia Mooney went 5-for-5, including a walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning that lifted Pitt-Johnstown to a 5-4 victory over Bloomfield (NJ) Friday morning in Leesburg, Fla.
Mooney's base hit drove home
Laura Fox to tie it at one in the bottom of the first, before the Mountain Cats added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings on
Emilia Santiago's sacrifice fly and
Tori Radvan's bases loaded walk that plated
Shaylin Hagerman.
Pitt-Johnstown held that lead until Bloomfield knotted it at three with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to force extra innings.
Another run in the top of the eighth put Bloomfield on top, but the Mountain Cats responded.
Kelsi Terzolino was placed on second to start the inning, and Santiago delivered an RBI double to knot it at four. Fox's sacrifice bunt moved Santiago to third and Mooney followed with a walk-off single through the left side that chased home Fox to give Pitt-Johnstown the victory.
Mooney banged out five hits and drove in two, while Santiago doubled and drove in two, and Radvan doubled and had an RBI for the Mountain Cats. Fox doubled and scored a run,
Brynnae Coed had a hit and scored a run, and
Kayla Miehl added a hit.
Mia Smith earned the complete-game win for Pitt-Johnstown. Smith allowed four runs (3 earned) on seven hits, while striking out 11 and walking just two to mark her second straight game with double-digit strikeouts.
