
Jenna Tallman homered and drove in four, and
Kayla Miehl had two hits and two RBI as Pitt-Johnstown exploded for 10 runs over the final three innings to close out its spring trip with a 10-2 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan, Saturday afternoon in Clermont. Fla. The Mountain Cats are now 4-6.
Kentucky Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Pitt-Johnstown responded with four in the top of the third. Back-to-back one-out singles from
Laura Fox and
Julia Mooney, and
Kayla Miehl's RBI single to left tied it at one.
Jenna Tallman followed with a double that scored Fox, and
Maddie Flowers came through with a two out base hit that chased home Miehl and Tallman to put the Mountain Cats on top, 4-1.
The Mountain Cats tacked on four more in the fourth. With two outs, Miehl drove home
Emilia Santiago with a base hit to right field, and Tallman belted a three-run home run to center that brought home Fox and Miehl to extend the lead to 8-1.

Pitt-Johnstown put it away with two runs in the fifth. After
Tori Radvan walked and Aylah Charles singled up the middle, Santiago singled home Radvan, and Charles scored on Fox's fielder's choice.
Tallman was 2-for-3 with a homer, a double, and four RBI, and Miehl had two hits, two RBI, and score two runs to lead the Mountain Cats. Santiago had two hits, an RBI and a run, Flowers drove home two with a hit, and Fox had a hit, and RBI and two runs. Radvan, Charles, and Mooney each collected one hit.
Mia Smith tossed a complete game and improved to 3-1 after limiting Kentucky Wesleyan to two runs (1 earned) on four this in five innings. Smith struck out eight and walked a pair.
With the loss, Kentucky Wesleyan fell to 7-20.
Pitt-Johnstown visits Lock Haven for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, before opening PSAC West-play at Seton Hill on March 19. The Mountain Cats will then make their 2023 home debut with a conference doubleheader against California (PA) on March 21 at 2 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
