Freshman right-hander
Mia Smith fanned a career-high 12 hitters and limited Mercy (NY) to just one run to lead the Pitt-Johnstown softball team to a 2-1 victory, Thursday afternoon in Clermont, Fla. The Mountain Cats are now 2-3.
Pitt-Johnstown opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the third when
Emilia Santiago singled and came around to score on a

It remained that way until the top of the sixth. Mercy got a base hit to lead off the inning, then cut the deficit to one following a Pitt-Johnstown throwing error. However, Smith struck out the next three hitters, then struck out the side in the seventh to preserve the victory on close out the complete-game.
Smith tossed all seven innings and held Mercy to just one run on a pair of hits. She also struck out 12 and walked one.
Fox went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and
Kayla Miehl also doubled for Pitt-Johnstown.
Maddie Flowers, Radvan, and Santiago also had hits.
