Emilia Santiago drove in Smith with an RBI groundout to second. The rally was capped when Charles sprinted home on a wild pitch.
The Crimson Hawks tacked on two runs on three hits in the third and two more in the bottom of the sixth to lead 10-4. The Mountain Cats did not go away quietly, though, in their half of the seventh.

Pitt-Johnstown posted five runs on four hits that was kickstarted with a walk from
Jenna Tallman and a Miehl single to left field. Coming in as a pinch hitter,
Audrey Paterson doubled to right to make it 10-7. Smith belted a double to drive in Paterson and cut the deficit to two.
Hannah Gnibus singled in Smith, who trotted home after taking third on a wild pitch. But despite threatening with two runners in scoring position and two outs, IUP reliever Bella Bucy coaxed a ground ball to second to seal the win.
Elizabeth Kasper picked up the win in relief for the Crimson Hawks, while Miehl suffered the loss for the Mountain Cats.
The Mountain Cats got off to a far better start in game two when
Laura Fox singled and moved to second on an error. She took third on a wild pitch before scoring on Tallman's sacrifice fly.
Radvan singled to lead off the Pitt-Johnstown fourth before scoring on another double by Paterson. Santiago followed with a double to bring Paterson home and make it 4-0.
But IUP snatched the lead for good after scoring four runs on five hits in its half of the fourth.
Bucy earned the win in relief, throwing 3.2 innings, giving up just one hit with three strikeouts.
Smith threw a complete game, but suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on six hits to pair with five strikeouts and three free passes.
