
The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team made quick work of Bowie State (MD) in Friday's season-opener at the Frostburg State (MD Tournament. The Mountain Cats got a match-high nine kills on an .818 hitting percentage from
Lualis Alvarado on their way to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-6 sweep over the Bulldogs.
Alvarado, who also had seven digs, accumulated nine kills on just 11 attacks.
Pitt-Johnstown also got eight kills and a .462 hitting percentage from freshman
Brooke Pelloni and six kills and three service aces from
Mallory Pinske. Freshman
Dannika Susko and
Natalie Lippincott collected five and four kills, respectively.
Adiamar Beaz finished with a match-highs of 31 set assists and seven aces, while
Gabi DeRenzo had a match-high 15 digs and a pair of aces. In addition, freshman
Jessica Krug chipped-in four digs and three aces in her collegiate debut.
Five Bowie State played had two kills in the straight set setback.
The Mountain Cats will be back in action at 2 p.m. when they take on Shaw (NC) in the Second Round of the Frostburg State Tournament.
