Portzline, Palange Lead Mountain Cats to 5-2 Win at Penn State-New Kensington

Box Score Anson Portzline collected two goals and two assists, and Jacob Palange added a pair of goals to help the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer secure a 5-2 non-conference win at Penn State-New Kensington, Tuesday afternoon.  The Mountain Cats improved to 2-1-0.
 
Portzline got the Mountain Cats started with his first career goal off of an assist from Dillon Trimble 18 minutes into the match.
 
Pitt-Johnstown made it 2-0 on Palange's unassisted goal in the 27th minute, before Portzline set up Palange for his second goal of the day five minutes later that put the Mountain Cats in front, 2-0, at the halftime break.
 
It stayed that way until the 71st minute when Portzline netted his second of goal of the match to increase the Pitt lead to 4-0.
 
Penn State-New Kensington got on the scoreboard with a goal from Finn Bethurum three minutes later, and Devin Murray's header with eight minutes remaining, cut the Mountain Cat lead to 4-2.
 
However, Pitt-Johnstown got that goal right back just over a minute later after Blake Emge finished Portzline's cross that set the final at 5-2.
 
Jacob Tichnell picked-up the win in goal for the Mountain Cats after holding the Lions scoreless over the first t4 minutes.  Tichnell saw 11 shots and made six saves.  Sage Parsley played the final 16 minutes and faced three shots, allowed two goals, and made one save.
 
Penn State-New Kensington's Kenton Knox took the loss after seeing 21 Mountain Cats shots, allowing all five goals, and making nine saves.
 
The Lions are now 3-3-0 on the season.
 
The Mountain Cats will open PSAC West-play with a home match against Seton Hill on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before visiting Slippery Rock for a conference match on Sept. 30.
