In a press conference on Wednesday, the NCAA named Pitt-Johnstown as the host institution for the 2028 Division II National Wrestling Championships in Pittsburgh.
 
The tournament will be held at the University of Pittsburgh's Petersen Events Center on March 10-11, 2028.
 
The NCAA awarded over 240 host sites for Preliminary and Finals Round Championships across Division I, II, and III for 2026-27 and 2027-28.
 
In the announcement, the Pittsburgh area received received eight of the Preliminary and Championship Events in 2026-27 and 2027-28.
 
Along with the Division II Wrestling Championships in 2028, PPG Paints Arena will host the first and second rounds of the 2027 Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, Duquene University will host the 2026 Division III Women's Volleyball Finals, the 2027 and 2028 Division III Men's Basketball Elite Eight, and the 2028 Division III Men's Volleyball Finals.  In addition, the 2027 Men's and Women's Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Finaals will take place at Highmark Stadium, and the 2027 NCAA Bowling Championships will be hosted by AMF Mount Lebanon Lanes.
