Pitt-Johnstown's
PJ Derksen made eight saves, but 18
th-ranked Gannon ran out to a 3-0 halftime lead and went on to a 5-0 PSAC Western Division win over Mountain Cats in Friday's 2024 season finale at Windber Stadium. Pitt-Johnstown ended the season at 3-13-1 overall and 0-9-1 in conference-play.
Gannon opened the scoring with goals from Sverre Orten and Rafa Hyde in the 28
th and 35
th minutes, before Herman Aanberg finished assists from Orten and Hyde in the 42
nd minute to put the Golden Knights in front, 3-0 at the half.
Hyde added his second goal of the day off of an assist from James Pool six minutes into the second half, and Per Kristian Lauvstad set the final at 5-0 with just 17 minutes to play.
Derksen saw 29 shots from the Golden Knights, allowed five goals, and made eight saves, while Gannon goalkeeper Andre Moraes faced three shots from the Mountain and was forced to make on save to record the shutout.
Gannon closed out its regular season and will begin the PSAC Tournament at 13-2-3 overall and 7-0-3 in the PSAC West.
