Hall of Famer Jennifer Tuscano Named Interim Athletic Director at Division I Pitt

Former Lady Cat basketball standout and 2023 Pitt-Johnstown Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Jennifer Tuscano has been named Interim Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator at NCAA Division I Power Conference member University of Pittsburgh.
 
 "We are so very proud to have one of our very own Mountain Cats at the helm of Pitt Panther Athletics during this interim term" Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Athletics (Interim) Abby Gearhart said.  "Jen has always been a person of great integrity and character.  She exhibited excellence in everything she did at Pitt Johnstown which landed her in the Pitt Johnstown Athletics Hall of Fame, and it is evident that she has carried that on throughout her administrative career in college athletics.  She is undoubtedly one of the most intentional, genuine, hardworking, driven and kind people who goes out of her way to make everyone feel special.  We are so very proud of her, and fully anticipate great things.  We are resting assured that she will steward our Pitt brand in an exemplary style. H2P!!!"
 
Tuscano, who excelled for Head Coach Jodi Gault's Lady Cat basketball program from 1995-1999, closed out her prolific career ranked 10th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List with 1,396 points.  She helped guide the Lady Cats to a pair of NCAA Division II Regional Tournament berths.
 
Tuscano's 42-point performance against California (PA) during the 1996-97 season tied Denise Gallo's single-game scoring record, before she eclipsed the 1,000-point mark during her junior season in 2997-98.
 
Tuscano's stellar career as a Lady Cat was rewarded when she was inducted as part of the 14th class of Pitt-Johnstown's Athletics Hall of Fame on April 22, 2023.
 
After graduating from Pitt-Johnstown in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, then earned her Master of Science Degree in Sport Management at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2007.
 
In 2000, Tuscano became the Director of Athletics at her Alma Mater Meyersdale Area High School, before accepting a position with the University of Pittsburgh as an Academic Advisor and later the Assistant Director in the Academic Support Service for Student-Athletes Office in 2004.
 
In 2015, Tuscano was named Senior Women's Administrator and Associate Athletic Director.  From 2020 to 2022 she served as Pitt's Senior Associate Athletics Director, before being promoted once again to Executive Associate Athletics Director where she was in charge of oversight and daily guidance to teams and coaches regarding management, administration, operations, compliance, etc.
 
In her tenure at Pitt, she has overseen NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships, including the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 2019 and Women's Basketball Championships in 2007 and 2010 and the ACC Softball Championships in 2022.
 
Ms. Tuscano, a member of several committees and organizations, earned the University of Pittsburgh Athletics Charles S. Miller Award (2009), Gold Standard Softball Administrator of the Year (2019) and Gold Standard Leader Award (2023).She was also named SportsPITTSBURGH Partner of the Year in 2020 and the East Atlantic Region Gymnastics League Administrator of the Year in 2021.
