Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams to Make 2024 Home Debuts This Weekend

The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's soccer team will open up their home slates this weekend.  On Saturday, the Mountain Cat men will kick-off their season with a non-conference match against Shepherd at 2 p.m. at Windber High School, and the women will play host to a non-conference match against West Liberty (WV) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Richland High School

In 2023, Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cats, led by Second-Team All-PSAC West selections Anson Portzline and Alexzander Toto, were 4-9-1 overall and 2-7-1 in conference-play.

Fourth-year Head Coach Ryan McDougall's Shepherd Rams opened the year with a 1-1 draw against the University of District of Columba on Thursday.  Faustin Ndagije goal with less than two minutes to play knotted the score for the Rams.

Last year, Toto gave Pitt-Johnstown a 1-0 halftime advantage, but the Rams answered with a pair of second have goals to secure a 2-1 victory.

The Mountain Cat men travel to Penn State-New Kensington on Tuesday at 4 p.m., before visiting Goldey-Beacom (DE) next Saturday.

 
Pitt-Johnstown used Lydia Roman's goal in the 30th minute to give first-year Head Coach Aideen O'Donoghue her first collegiate victory and lead the Mountain Cats to a 1-0 season-opening win at Davis & Elkins (WV) on Thursday.

Seventh-year Head Coach Pete McMenemy and the West Liberty Hilltoppers come in at 0-1-0 after opening the year with a 1-0 setback at Seton Hill on Thursday.

Pitt-Johnstown and West Liberty have met twice and the Mountain Cats hold a 1-0-1 advantage in the series.  On Sept. 26, 2012, Pitt-Johnstown earned a 2-0 win, before the teams played to a 2-2 draw in West Liberty, W.Va. last year on Sept. 3.  Haley Neidig and Sophia Lamesta scored the Mountain Cat goals.

The Pitt-Johnstown women open PSAC-West play against Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Richland High School.
