No 10 Wrestlers Start Fast And Cruise to 39-6 PSAC Win at Seton Hill

Gnibus, NoahMazurek, MichaelThe Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers, up one spot to No. 10 in the Open Mat Dual Meet Rankings, won the first six matches and used falls from Noah Gnibus (184 lbs.) and Michael Mazurek (285 lbs.) to close out a 39-6 PSAC win at Seton Hill, Friday night.  The Mountain Cats have won eight straight dual meets and are 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC.
 
Eighth-ranked Trevon, the reigning PSAC Wrestler of the Week, go the Mountain Cats going with a 17-6 major decision win over Don Lindsey in the opening bout at 125 lbs., and Tyson Cook dealt Jacob Gardner an 8-3 loss at 133 lbs. to but Pitt-Johnstown on top, 7-0.
 
At 141 lbs., Mason Myers locked up a 9-0 major decision over Niko Ferra, before 20th-ranked Chad Ozias increased it to 14-0 with an 8-4 decision over Ty Linsenbigler at 149 lbs.
 
The Mountain Cats kept it going at 157 lbs. with a 4-1 decision from Cooper Warshel over Mike Zacur, and Macon Myers made his debut at 165 lbs. after wrestling most of the season at 174 by dealing Collin Hearn a 15-0 technical fall at 3:34 to push it out to 22-0.
 
Seton Hill ended Pitt-Johnstown's streak of six straight wins to start the match when Kane Kettering pinned Tony Salopek at 3:47 at 174 lbs.
 
However, that was as close as it would get.  Gnibus quickly got that six points back at 184 lbs. by pinning Camryn Higgins at 2:46, and sixth-ranked Dakoda Rodgers won a dominating, 21-6 technical fall at 3:28.
 
Mazurek put the finishing touches on the 39-6 win by pinning Jeremiah Erickson at 2:40.
 
With the loss, the Griffins slipped to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC.
 
The Mountain Cats travels to PSAC matches at Millersville on Feb. 1 and Shippensburg on Feb. 4, before returning home to celebrate Winterfest Weekend and Senior Night against nationally-ranked Gannon on Feb. 14.
