Mountain Cat wrestlers to host Tri-Match with Lake Erie and UNC-Pembroke on Saturday

The 18th-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers, coming off of a match at Division I nationally-ranked Pitt on Friday, return home to the Sports Center on Saturday to host a tri-match with Lake Erie (OH) and No. 14 UNC-Pembroke.
 
Wrestling is scheduled to begin at noon when Lake Erie takes on UNC-Pembroke.  At approximately 1:30, Pitt-Johnstown will wrestle UNC-Pembroke, before the Mountain Cats close out the tri-match against Lake Erie at approximately 3:00.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, ranked 18th in the Open Mat Dual Meet Ranking under first-year Head Coach Tyler Reinhart, was 2-1 with wins over East Stroudsburg on Nov. 14 and No. 18 Ashland (OH) on Nov. 24, before wrestling at Division I Pitt on Friday.  The Mountain Cats also finished 11th at the Midwest Classic on Dec. 14-15.  Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.) placed third, while Trevon Gray (125 lbs.) and Cooper Warshel (157 lbs.) both placed eighth for Pitt-Johnstown.  Nationally, Gray and Dakoda Rodgers (197 lbs.) are ranked eighth, and Vance is fifth for the Mountain Cats.
 
Lake Erie, ranked 15th in the Open Mat Tournament Rankings but unranked in the dual meet rankings, comes in at 1-2 under third-year Head Coach Boomer Fechko after splitting a pair of matches at the Davenport Tri-Match in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Dec. 1.  The Storm suffered a 39-12 lost to No. 22 Tiffin (OH), then defeated the hosts, 32-22.  Lake Erie also placed 13th at the Midwest Classic on Dec. 14-15.  Braden Hahlen (#20 at 125 lbs.), Jack Haskin (No. 5 at 165 lbs.), and Christian Small (No. 2 at 141 lbs.) are all individually-ranked for the Storm.
 
Head Coach Othello Johnson's (14th season) UNC-Pembroke Braves were 4-3 and ranked 14th in the Open Mat Dual Meet Rankings prior to Thursday's dual meet at Limestone (NC).  The Braves posted a 1-3 record at the Carolina Clash on Dec. 1, including a 51-6 victory over Lincoln Memorial.  UNC-Pembroke also finished in a tie for 32nd-place at the Midwest Classic on Dec. 14-15.  The Braves are led by former Mountain Cat and No. 18 Oggie Atwood (285 lbs.), No. 20 Avery Buonocore (141 lbs.), No. 17 Will Lowry (165 lbs.), No. 8 Jake Piccirlli (149 lbs.), and No. 3 Keegan Roberson (157 lbs.).
 
Following Saturday's tri-match, the Mountain Cats will host another tri-match with Fairmont State (WV) and Findlay (OH) Jan. 11, before hosting a PSAC match against No. 24 Kutztown on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.
