Wrestlers Set to Host Tri-Match With Fairmont State And Findlay on Saturday

For the second straight weekend, the Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers will host a Tri-Match when Fairmont State (WV) and Findlay (OH) visit the Sports Center on Saturday.
 
Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. when Fairmont State takes on Findlay.  At approximately 12:30 p.m., Pitt-Johnstown will wrestle Findlay, before the Mountain Cats finish the afternoon against Fairmont State at approximately 2:00.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, ranked 15th in the Open Mat Dual Meet Ranking under first-year Head Coach Tyler Reinhart, improved to 4-2 following a 24-16 victory over #14 UNC-Pembroke and a 28-14 win over Lake Erie (OH) at last weekend's Mountain Cat Tri-Match in the Sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown also took on Division I No. 18 Pitt on Jan. 3 and suffered a 32-8 setback.  Nationally, Trevon Gray and Dakoda Rodgers (197 lbs.) are ranked eighth, and Isaiah Vance is fifth for the Mountain Cats.
 
Prior to Friday's scheduled dual meet at Penn State-Altoona, Fairmont State (WV), under third-year Head Coach Gennaro Bonaventura, was 2-4 on the year.  The Falcons hosted the 2025 Fairmont State Open last Saturday and came away with five place-winners, including Colton Stoneking, the runner-up at 141 lbs., and Nate Pelesky, who finished third at 133 lbs..  In addition, Jim Green (157 lbs.), Austin Gibson (184 lbs.), and Tyler Wise (197 lbs.) al placed fourth in their respective weight classes.
 
Head Coach Shawn Nelson's (27th season) Findlay (OH) Oilers come in at 3-0 after earning a 43-12 victory over Western Kentucky and 42-9 win over Davenport at the Findlay Tri-Match on Dec. 7. The Oilers also dealt Thomas More (KY) a 35-12 loss on Dec. 3.  Billy Smith is ranked 18th at 125 lbs. For Findlay.
 
Following Saturday's tri-match, Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC match against Kutztown on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
