The Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball team returns home to host a non-conference game against West Virginia Wesleyan, Monday evening in the Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cats enter the game at 5-3 following Saturday's 81-72 setback at West Chester to begin PSAC Crossover-play.
Jay Rose and
Adam Bilinsky each scored 16 points, while
Vinnie Cugini added 14 points and five rebounds for the Mountain Cats. Pitt-Johnstown also defeated Penn State-Greater Allegheny, 99-57, last Tuesday in the Sports Center.
Nick Watts' 12 points and game-high seven rebounds led four double figure scorers and 10 Mountain Cats who scored at least five points.
West Virginia Wesleyan, under seventh-year
Head Coach Derek Sloan, is 0-6 overall. The Bobcats opened Mountain East Conference (MEC) action with a 109-95 lost to Frostburg State (MD) last Wednesday and a 104-54 loss at nationally-ranked Fairmont State (WV) on Saturday.
Lethaniel Foster, Jr. (13 points) and
Adrijus Janciauskas (10 points) each scored in double figures for the Bobcats against the Falcons.
Pitt-Johnstown and West Virginia Wesleyan first met during the 1988-89 season and the Mountain Cats hold a 17-8 advantage in the series. The teams last met in the First Round of the Mountain Cat Tip-Off Classic in the Sports Center on Nov. 11, 2022.
Andy Zuchelli scored 13 points, while
John Pul Kromka and
Jared Jakubick each had 12 points and six rebounds in a, 73-51, Pitt-Johnstown victory. The Bobcats were led by
Tyler Slone's game-highs of 22 points and 10 boards and
Darius Green's 16 points and seven rebounds.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC Crossover doubleheader with the women's team against Bloomsburg on Dec. 16, before traveling to conference crossover games at East Stroudsburg on Dec. 20 and at Kutztown on Dec. 21.
