Head Coach Tyler Reinhart's Pitt-Johnstown wrestling team closed out the 2024-25 regular season in fine fashion Friday night in the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats, ranked seventh in the latest Open Mat Dual Meet Rankings, celebrated Winterfest Weekend and Senior Night by winning their 11
th straight match and claiming their ninth consecutive PSAC Dual Meet Championship with a 22-13 victory over No. 15 Gannon. Pitt-Johnstown ended the regular season at 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the PSAC.

In a battle of nationally-ranked wrestlers to start the match at 125 lbs., Pitt-Johnstown's seventh-ranked
Trevon Gray locked up a 5-4 decision over No. 9 Logan Sallot, and
Tyson Cook followed by defeating Junior Reynolds, 13-7, at 133 lbs. to give the Mountain Cats a 6-0 lead.
Gannon answered right back with an 11-6 win from Brock Christian over
Mason Myers at 141 lbs. and third-ranked Kenny Kiser's 17-9 major decision over
Chad Ozias at 149 lbs. to go in front, 7-6.
Cooper Warshel got a take down 1:17 into overtime to deal Ethan Richner a 4-1 loss and 157 lbs. and give the lead back to the Mountain Cats.
The Golden Knights came back again. This time, 2024 NCAA National Qualifier Nick Coreno held off
Macon Myers, 10-9 at 165 lbs., and No. 15 Patrick Jackson shut out
Tony Salopek, 3-0 at 174 lbs. to put Gannon up 13-9.
However, Pitt-Johnstown stormed back to win the final three bouts to seal the win and the Mountain Cats' ninth straight PSAC title.
At 184 lbs.,
Noah Gnibus got Pitt-Johnstown back to within one with a 9-5 win over Gaetano Savelli, and sixth-ranked
Dakoda Rodgers put the Mountain Cats in the lead for good with a 17-5 major decision win over Eli Reese at 197 lbs.
Pitt-Johnstown tacked on six insurance points and set the final at 22-13 when fifth-ranked
Isaiah Vance pinned Shane Davidson just :20 into the opening period in the bout at 285 lbs.
With the loss, Gannon slipped to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to the 2025 Super Region I Championships at Fairmont State (WV) on March 1, before competing in the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on March 14-15.
