Coleman, AidenPitt-Johnstown dropped 1-0 and 6-3 decisions in a doubleheader against Slippery Rock to open up PSAC Conference play on Friday afternoon at Jack Critchfield Park.

The Mountain Cats slipped to 7-11 (0-2 PSAC).

Game One—Slippery Rock 1, Pitt-Johnstown 0

Aidan Coleman (3-2), who threw just 76 pitches, went the distance on the mound but was tagged with the loss. He threw six innings, giving up one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts.

Meanwhile, the Mountain Cats could not generate much offense against Slippery Rock starter Nate Malak, who gave up four hits and struck out nine in a complete-game win.

Brody Roberts, Devon Boyles, Calvin Iseminger and Cam Donaldson all recorded singles for Pitt-Johnstown. However, the Mountain Cats could not string any of those hits together.

Slippery Rock scored the only run it needed in the second inning when Gage Gillott was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame. A groundout moved him over to second and Brandon Butler followed with an RBI single to make it 1-0.

Erik Rhodes walked with one out in the seventh but never made it into scoring position.

Game Two—Slippery Rock 6, Pitt-Johnstown 3

Pitt-Johnstown found itself down 3-0 after one inning in game two and never fully found a way to recover.

A throwing error helped the Rock pick up three runs on three hits in the first. They tacked on three more on three hits in the fourth to take a 6-0 advantage.

The Mountain Cats cut that deficit in half in the fifth with three runs on three hits. The first four hitters in the inning reached base safely beginning with a single from Alex Ebeling. Cam Donaldson was hit by a pitch and Roberts singled to load the bases.

Zac LeGars walked to pick up an RBI and bring home Ebeling and Logan Ferguson's sacrifice fly brought in Donaldson to make it 6-2. Justin Turcovski capped the inning with a two-out RBI single to score Roberts.

Starter Seth Shuey (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up three earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks in three innings of work. Cole Sansom threw 2.2 innings in relief, surrendering three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts compared to one walk.

Hunter Loomis earned the win on the mound for Slippery Rock, which improved to 11-6 (2-0 PSAC).
