The Pitt-Johnstown softball team will host a PSAC Western Division doubleheader against California (PA) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Softball Field.
Head Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora and the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats are 3-15 overall and 0-4 in the PSAC West after dropping doubleheaders to Slippery Rock on Friday and Gannon on Sunday.
Julia Mooney and
Sara Solberg combined for nine RBI, but The Rock swept the Mountain Cats, 5-1 and 18-14. On Sunday, Gannon jumped out to early leads in both games and picked up 10-0 and 9-0 wins over Pitt-Johnstown.
Cal U, under second-year
Head Coach Nikki Yanchak, comes in at 4-20 overall and 1-3 in conference-play after Friday's split with Edinboro.
Jenna Hollerich had three hits and two RBI, and
Makaylia Schlosser added two hits and two RBI in a 9-3 win in game one. Edinboro came back with an 11-9 victory in game two.
Last season, the Vulcans swept the four-game, home-and-home series over Pitt-Johnstown. On March 24, Cal U earned 7-0 and 5-3 wins in California, before sweeping the Mountain Cats 6-0 and 17-9 in Johnstown on April 9.
The Mountain Cats visit Edinboro on Friday and Seton Hill next Tuesday for PSAC West doubleheaders, before returning home to host a conference doubleheader against Indiana (PA) on April 4.
