Box Score Mooney, JuliaDePalma, IsabellaJulia Mooney and Isabella DePalma each had two hits, but Point Park scored three runs in the top of the eighth to deal Pitt-Johnstown a 4-2 loss in Friday's first of two games to close out the Spring Games in Florida.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 1-8.

Gianna Welsh's two out single to center brought home Melanie Taylor to give Point Park an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Pitt-Johnstown took advantage of a pair of Point Park miscues to tie it with an unearned run in the third.  With two outs, Meghan McDonough reached on an error, stole second, and moved to third on Hannah Gnibus' infield single.  McDonough then scored on Jenna Tallman's ball that was misplayed by Pioneers' pitcher Jaylyn Mullenax.

Both teams put runners in scoring position over the next four innings, but neither was able to break the tie until Point Park scored three in the top of the eighth.  By rule, Mia Arndt was place on second and scored on a Mountain Cat error, before an RBI double from Welsh, and Gia LaBrie's run scoring single put the pioneers on top 4-1.

In the Pitt-Johnstown half of the eighth, Tallman was placed second and scored on Mooney's base hit center and Pioneers' error, but Mullenax was able to work out of the jam and lock down the complete-game victory.

Along with Mooney and DePalma, McDonough had a hit and scored a run for Pitt-Johnstown.  Gianna Surra, Audrey Paterson, and Gnibus also collected base hits.

Mia Smith took the tough loss and fell to 1-4 after allowing four runs (2 earned) on 10 hits in eight innings.  Smith struck out four and walked one.

Welsh went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Bella Magliocco added three hits for the Pioneers.

Mullenax evened her record at 1-1 after giving up two unearned runs on eight Pitt-Johnstown hits, while striking out five and walking one.

Point Park is now 1-2.
