Three different players notched two goals apiece as the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team enjoyed a 7-1 victory over Penn State-New Kensington on Sunday afternoon.
Noah Pawling, Pau Cano and Holger Lozano each found the back of the net twice as the Mountain Cats (3-0) won their third straight match to open the season.Â
Pitt-Johnstown posted 37 shots, with 19 on goal, while limiting Penn State-New Kensington to just four shots on goal.
After both teams went scoreless for the first 33 minutes, Pawling opened up the floodgates in the 34th minute off an assist from Lozano, who scored unassisted a little more than five minutes later to make it 2-0.
Pawling secured another goal 58 seconds later thanks to an assist from Cano. In the final minutes of the first half, Cano made it 4-0 in the 43rd minute after capitalizing off an assist from AJ Getsy.
Nine minutes into the second half, Cano tallied his second score of the day with some help from Pawling. Lozano tacked on the sixth goal in the 64th minute, with Cam Wagner picking up the assist.
Up 6-1, Roberto Lozano capped the scoring in the 85th minute off an assist from Parker Scherer.
The Mountain Cats visit Shepherd on Wednesday, Sept. 24 for a 1 p.m. matchup.
