Ryan Kyei Boahen enjoyed his first career hat trick to lead the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team to a commanding 5-0 win over Central Penn on Saturday afternoon.
The junior forward only played 57 minutes, largely because he scored three goals within the first 52 minutes of the match, the last coming on a penalty kick that made it 4-0.Â
The Mountain Cats (4-1) posted 10 shots in the first half and 13 in the second, accumulating 14 shots on goal. It was also a defensive gem as Pitt-Johnstown allowed just eight shots, only three of them being on goal. Jacob Tichnell went the distance in goal and made all three saves.
Boahen connected on his first goal in the 14th minute thanks to an assist from Noah Pawling. The pair teamed up again in the 26th minute to make it 2-0.
That was until, in the 35th minute, Oscar Trilles Monferrer found the back of the net unassisted for a 3-0 lead that the Mountain Cats would take into halftime. After Boahen capitalized on a foul, Roberto Lozano capped the scoring late in the 74th minute on an assist from Pau Cano.
Pitt-Johnstown will host California (Pa.) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 in the PSAC opener for both teams.
