Forup’s Career Night Not Enough as Mountain Cats Suffer Setback to Gannon

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Baden Forup recorded new career-highs in points and rebounds, but it wasn't enough for Pitt-Johnstown to overcome Gannon in a 112-86 setback as part of Winterfest Weekend on Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center.

The Mountain Cats dropped to 10-9 (4-7 PSAC). At halftime, both the men's and women's programs honored several representatives as part of the PSAC 75th Anniversary Celebration.

Forup led all players with 29 points and 20 rebounds to secure his team-leading 10th double-double of the season. Will Kromka contributed 16 points and five rebounds.

Vinnie Cugini racked up nine points, a game-high six assists and four rebounds, while Adam Bilinsky added eight points, five assists and three rebounds.

Forup's layup at the 13:05 mark of the first half cut the Mountain Cats' deficit to 17-7 before Gannon rattled off a 14-0 run to go up 31-7. Pitt-Johnstown never found its footing from that point on and went into the break down 61-37.

Cugini reduced the deficit to 77-59 less than eight minutes into the second half on a layup, but it was all the closer the Mountain Cats could get.

Precious Idiaru and Layne Sarver each scored a team-high 19 points for the Golden Knights, who moved to 17-2 (10-1 PSAC).

Pitt-Johnstown will host Seton Hill at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sports Center.
