Niki Cognigni-Pecora's Pitt-Johnstown softball team was picked to finish seventh in the Western Division when the conference office released its 2026 Preseason Poll. Voting ws done by the league's coaches
The 2026 Mountain Cats feature 11 returning letter-winners, including top-pitchers in senior
Mia Smith junior
Mahlon Yonkin and three of its top-six hitters in
Isabella DePalma,
Meghan McDonough, and
Gianna Surra. This year's roster also has nine freshmen.
Slippery Rock received four of the eight first place votes and was picked the win the PSAC Western Division by the coaches. Indiana (PA) got three first-place votes and Gannon claimed the final first-place vote.
On the Eastern side, the coaches gave East Stroudsburg six of the nine first-place votes and picked the Warriors to claim the title. Shippensburg got two first-place votes and Shepherd got one.
Pitt-Johnstown is scheduled to open the season with six games at the 2026 Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. from Feb. 27-Match 1.
