Gianna Cardillo made five saves over 90 minutes, and the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team kept Indiana (Pa.) off the scoreboard for the entire first half, before the Crimson Hawks scored four second-half goals in a 4-0 PSAC West victory, Wednesday afternoon at South Campus Field in Indiana.
The Mountain Cats fell to 1-9-2 overall and 0-8-2 in the PSAC West. Indiana improved to 5-4-3 overall and 5-4-2 in conference play.
The first half was tight from the start. Indiana had a 4-2 edge in shots, but Cardillo turned aside two shots, including an early attempt by Kat Morgan in the fourth minute and another from Ayla Cook in the 18th minute. At the other end,
Marissa Mackey put Pitt-Johnstown's first shot on goal in the 13th minute, a low shot that Indiana goalkeeper Emma Hays saved.
Rylee Fry followed with an attempt in the 38th minute that went just wide left. The teams went to the break scoreless.
Indiana broke through early in the second half. Ava Geishauser scored in the 50th minute off a Zoe Ans-Bitchoka assist, and Paige Fausey added a goal in the 57th minute, again set up by Ans-Bitchoka. Morgan made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute. Geishauser's second goal of the game came in the 88th minute to complete the scoring.
Indiana finished with a 12-3 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in shots on goal.
Cardillo made three more saves after the break, including stops on Izzy Sawich in the 55th minute, Melena Wray in the 79th minute and Cook in the 81st minute.
Pitt-Johnstown's
Nicole Hawk also had a shot in the 51st minute that went wide.
Pitt-Johnstown returns home to the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field on Saturday to host Slippery Rock in a PSAC West match at 3 p.m. The Mountain Cats will then host a conference match against Lock Haven on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
