Mountain Cats Wrap 2025-26 Campaign with Senior Day Triumph Over Clarion

Ainsworth, M'layaMargolis, LexiJOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Five different players reached double-figures, and Pitt-Johnstown rebounded in the second half to wrap up the season with an 80-72 Senior Day victory on Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center.

The Mountain Cats concluded the 2025-26 campaign with a 10-17 (7-13 PSAC) mark. Before tip-off, Pitt-Johnstown honored four seniors, Lexi Margolis, Liv West, Riley Childress and M'laya Ainsworth, for their time and dedication to the program.

Ainsworth made the most of her final outing, recording season-highs of 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the way. Margolis drilled a team-high three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.

Freshman Angel Ezirim netted 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. West had 13 points and four rebounds, while Childress contributed 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks while logging a team-high 38 minutes.

In a game that featured six ties and nine lead changes, Pitt-Johnstown trailed by as many as nine in the third quarter before staging a furious comeback.

Down 51-42, freshman Aubree Price went 1-for-2 at the free-throw line to jumpstart a game-changing 17-1 rally that included seven points from Ainsworth and another six from Ezirim. Clarion hit two free throws with 11 seconds left, but Pitt-Johnstown carried a 59-54 lead into the final quarter that never faded away.

The Mountain Cats led 69-62 with less than four minutes to play before a layup from Ainsworth and a conventional 3-point play from Ezirim gave them their largest lead of 12 with 2:12 to go. Childress went 3-for-4 at the free-throw line in the final 45 seconds to seal it.

Pitt-Johnstown shot 52.9% (27 of 51) from the field, 42.1% from beyond the 3-point arc and 75% (18 of 24) at the charity stripe. It overcame 21 turnovers and a 37-34 rebounding deficit by limiting Clarion to just 38.1% shooting from the field, including a 27.7% (5 of 18) mark in the fourth quarter.

The Mountain Cats were down 6-0 to start, but outscored the Golden Eagles 18-11 the rest of the quarter to take an 18-17 lead into the second. Clarion led 33-32 at halftime. Pitt-Johnstown forced 17 Clarion turnovers and flipped them into 30 points.

Clarion, which dropped to 12-14 (7-13 PSAC), clinched the sixth and final Western Division playoff spot on Wednesday following Pitt-Johnstown's setback to Seton Hill.
