AKRON, OH — The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's track and field teams combined to win two events during the Northeast Ohio Open on Thursday and Friday at Akron University's Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
Men's Top Performers
Junior Domenion Jacobs won the men's 400-meter hurdles after recording a time of 53.25 seconds. It marked his third straight 400-meter hurdles victory after also winning at Monmouth's Home Opener and Ohio's Cherry Blossom Invitational.
Freshman Tyler Harold checked in at 50.2 seconds in the 400-meter dash to place seventh out of 19 competitors. Derek Christeleit recorded a throw of 49.63 meters to capture third in men's javelin. Logan Ilnicki was right behind him in fourth at 47.71 meters.
Women's Top Performers
Sophomore Audra Fedor easily edged five other competitors to grab the top spot in the 5000-meter run after finishing in 18:37.21. Fellow sophomore Sydney Dunn was fourth at 19:44.92.
The team of Rihanna Hillegas, Carly Weimer, Ellie Zuro Cirino and Ava Menzies recorded a runner-up finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.68 seconds.
Hillegas ran the 100-meter dash in 13.33 seconds to come in eighth out of 15 competitors.
Sophomore Ella Miller claimed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:34.05.
Both teams will compete in Slippery Rock's John Papa Invitational on Thursday, April 16.
