Biography

As a Lady Cat

        Kelsey Sleighter started all but one game as a junior in 2013-14. She averaged 10.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Her 44 three-point field goals and 22 steals both ranked second on the team. She scored in double figures 15 times, grabbed five or more rebounds eight times and dished out four or more assists five times. She also led the Lady Cat’s in scoring four different times.
         Sleighter played in 25 games in 2012-13 on her way to leading the team in both three-point field goals (43) and free-throw percentage (28-35, 80.0%).  Sleighter also averaged 8.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.  She scored in double figures 11 times. 
        Sleighter played in all 27 games and made three starts as a freshman in 2011-12.  Her 8.4 points per game ranked fourth on the team, while her 4.3 rebounds ranked third.  Sleighter led the Lady Cats in three-point field goal percentage (39.6%), was second in three-point field goals-made (40), and was fourth in steals (25).  She led the team in scoring and rebounding three times, and scored in double-figures 12 times.
         Through three seasons, Sleighter has recorded career highs of 26 points at Clarion University on Dec. 4, 2013, eight rebounds against Glenville State (WV) College on Dec. 3, 2011, and six assists at Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Nov. 12, 2013.
        Kelsey is the daughter of Chris and Linda Sleighter.
 
 
At Uniontown High School
 
                Kelsey Sleighter was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter at Uniontown High School where she was named to the Pennsylvania All-State Girls’ Basketball Team following the 2010-11 season.  She finished her career as the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,245 points.  Sleighter, just the third Lady Raider to reach the 1,000-point plateau, also amassed 145 three-pointers, 503 rebounds, 328 assists, and 254 steals.  She also shot 87% from the free-throw line.  As a senior, she finished second in the WPIAL in scoring (19.3 ppg.) and second in three-pointers (49).  Sleighter, a three-time WPIAL All-Section selection and a three-time All-County choice, also averaged 4.5 steals per game as a senior.  She was tabbed a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Terrific 10 and played in the 2011 Pittsburgh Roundball Classic.
                Sleighter was named to the 2010 US Junior National AAU Basketball All-Tournament Team as a member of the Nate Smith Basketball Club Team in Morgantown, W.Va.
                In the classroom, Sleighter, a 2010-11 Uniontown High School Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, graduated fourth in her class and was a member of the National Honor Society.
                She was coached by Jason Winfrey at Uniontown High School.
