Biography

As a Lady Cat
            Rachel Johnson started 25 of the 26 Lady Cat games as a junior in 2012-13 on her way to leading the team in rebounding at 8.3 rpg.  She finished second in both assists (40) and steals (44).  Her 8.0 ppg. ranked fifth on the team.  Johnson led the Lady Cats in rebounding 13 times, including seven double-digit rebounding games. She also had three double-doubles.  Johnson’s 444 career rebounds have her tied with Lisa Britt (1976-80) on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Rebounding List.
                Johnson played in every game (14 starts) and averaged 4.0 points per game and finished second on the team in rebounding at 5.3 rpg. in 2011-12.  She was also third in steals with 28 and third in blocked shots with seven.  Eight times as a sophomore she led the Lady Cats in rebounding, including three double-digit rebounding games.
                Johnson played in 27 games and made five starts as a true freshman in 2010-11.  She averaged 3.0 points per game and was the team’s fourth-leading rebounder at 3.1 per game.  Johnson shot 44.1% from the floor, including 7-15 (46.7%) from behind the three-point line, and 59.1% (13-22) from the free-throw line.  Johnson dished out 17 assists, blocked five shots and made eight steals.  She scored in double-figures twice and grabbed five or more rebounds eight times.
                Johnson has career-highs of 26 points at West Virginia Wesleyan College on Jan. 10, 2013 and 14 rebounds at the University of Charleston (WV) on Feb. 9, 2013.
                Rachel is the daughter of Mark and Diane Johnson. 
 
 At Palmyra Area High School
                Rachel Johnson was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter at Palmyra Area High School, where she scored 739 points, pulled down a school-record 956 rebounds and made 172 steals.  Johnson, a Second-Team All-County selection as a junior and a first-team choice in 2010, averaged 9.0 points and 12.2 rebounds per game as a senior.  She was a two-time Mid-Penn Keystone Division Honorable-Mention All-Star who played in the 2010 Mid-Penn All-Star Game and the PA Hoops North vs. South All-Star Game.  Johnson also helped her team reach the PIAA Sweet 16 in 2008-09, and win back-to-back titles at the Warwick Holiday Tournament.
                Johnson, a recipient of a Pitt-Johnstown Presidential Scholarship, was a four-year Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.  She also earned a Kiwanis Club Scholar-Athlete Award.
                In addition to basketball, she was a three-year starter on Palmyra’s girls’ soccer team.
                She was coached by Ron Berman at Palmyra Area High School.
