2013-14 Season
Ian Vescovi, a second-team All-PSAC West selection and the third team Capital One Academic All-American was the Mountain Cats’ second leading scorer (13.2 ppg) and leading rebounder (6.7 rpg). Vescovi also led the team in field goal percentage (56.6%) and blocked shots (53) and was second in assists (61). Nationally, his 2.04 blocks per game ranked 37th in NCAA Division II, while his 53 total blocks ranked him 48th and his 56.6 field goal percentage ranked him 49th. He led the team in rebounding 14 times and scoring nine times as a junior. Vescovi scored in double figures 19 times and pulled down seven or more rebounds 11 times. He also recorded three double-doubles.
Through three seasons, Vescovi has recorded highs of 25 points against Kutztown University on Dec. 18, 2013, 14 rebounds against Shippensburg University on Dec. 17, 2013, and seven assists at Seton Hill University on Jan. 15, 2014.
2012-13 Season
Vescovi, a First-Team
Capital One Academic All-District selection, joined the Mountain Cat starting line-up as a sophomore and led Pitt-Johnstown in rebounding (6.7 rpg.), field goal percentage (54.1%), and blocked shots (56). He was also fifth on the team in both scoring (9.5 ppg.) and assists (38). His 1.93 blocked shots per game ranked 27
th in NCAA Division II. Vescovi, who collected three double-doubles, led Pitt-Johnstown in scoring once and rebounding 13 times. He scored in double figures 12 times, and had seven or more rebounds 16 times.
Through two seasons, Vescovi has recorded highs of 19 points against Bluefield State (WV) College on Nov. 20, 2012, 13 rebounds at Shepherd (WV) University on Jan. 28, 2013, and six assists against Penn State-Beaver on Jan. 23, 2013.
2011-12 Season
Vescovi played in all 29 games off the bench after red-shirting as a freshman in 2010-11. Vescovi averaged 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 11 minutes per game. He led the Mountain Cats with 19 blocked shots. Vescovi also shot 51.2% (44-86) from the field, dished out 23 assists and made four steals. He scored in double-figures twice and pulled down four or more rebounds nine times.
At Cambria Heights High School
Vescovi played for Head Coach Eric Nagel at Cambria Heights High School where he finished his career with 1,321 points, 290 assists, over 800 rebounds and over 500 blocked shots. He posted career-highs of 33 points, 17 rebounds, 15 blocks and 10 assists. Following his senior season in 2009-10, Vescovi was named Third-Team Pennsylvania AA All-State and the
Altoona Mirror Player of the Year. He was an All-Laurel Highlands Athletics Conference selection and played in both the
Altoona Mirror Classic and
The Tribune-Democrat All-Star Game. Vescovi led Cambria Heights to the 2008-09 District 6 Championship and a District 6 Runner-up finish in 2009-10.
