At Pitt-Johnstown
2018-2019
As a junior in 2018-19, Gabrielle Smith paced Pitt-Johnstown in scoring (19.4 ppg.) and rebounding (7.1 rpg.) on her way to being named First-Team All-PSAC West Division. Smith also led the Mountain Cats assists (70) and steals (36) and was second on the team in free-throw percentage (79.5%) and blocks (35). Her 225 made and 283 attempted free-throws ranked second in the PSAC and second in NCAA Division II, and broke Denise Gallo’s (187-217 FTs in 1995-96) Pitt-Johnstown single-season free-throw’s made and attempted record. Smith also ranked 23rd nationally in scoring (19.4 ppg.). Smith tied Maureen Latterner’s (1985) single-game free-throws attempted record with 23 at Mansfield on Dec. 1. On February 21, Smith scored 14 points at Seton Hill to become the Mountain Cats’ 38th 1,000-point scorer. She enters her senior season ranked 30th on the all-time scoring list with 1,076 points. Smith led Pitt-Johnstown in scoring 19 times and rebounding 11 times. She also scored in double figures in all 29 games in 2018-19, including five double-doubles.
Smith has a single-game highs of 37 points at Mansfield on Dec. 2018, 13 rebounds on three occasions, and had seven assists at Slippery Rock University on Feb. 17, 2018.
2017-2018
Gabrielle Smith started all 27 games in 2017-18 on her way to leading Pitt-Johnstown in scoring at 14.5 points per game. Smith also led the team in assists with 59 and free-throws made with 113. She finished second on the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg.) and steals (39), and was third in blocked shots (19). Smith scored in double figures 22 times and pulled down five or more rebounds 21 times. She led the team in scoring 14 times and rebounding eight times.
2016-2017
Smith played in 24 games and made 17 starts as a true freshman in 2016-17. she averaged 5.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in nearly 18 minutes per game.
At Quigley Catholic High School
Gabrielle Smith was named First-Team PIAA A All-State after averaging 30.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.4 steals, and 3.0 assists per game in 2015-16 at Quigley Catholic High School.
She was a three-time All-Section choice, her section’s Most Valuable Player as a senior, a two-time Pittsburgh Post-Gazette “Fab 5” and Beaver County Times “Top 5” selection, and the Beaver County Times Player of the Year in 2015-16.
Smith’s 30.3 points per game was second-most in both the WPIAL and Pennsylvania, while her 47 points against Imani Christian on Feb. 13, 2016 broke a Quigley High School and a WPIAL Playoff single-game record.
She ended her high school career ranked second on the Quigley All-Time Scoring List with 1,637 points. Her 818 points during the 2015-16 season set a new Quigley record.
Academically, Smith was a member of the National Honor Society, and a High Honor Student in her sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Gabrielle is the daughter of Greg and Christine Smith. She was coached by Bill DelTorde at Quigley Catholic High School.
