Biography
Freshman Season (2016-17)
Chris Eddins earned the starting spot at 141 lbs. as a true freshman and wrestled his way into the National Tournament. Eddins was 27-10 overall and 12-3 in dual meets. His five wins by fall were tied for third on the team, while his 14 decision victories ranked second on the team. He won a Super Region I Championship and advanced to the National Tournament. Eddins also placed fourth at the PSAC Championships and eight at the Clarion University Open.
Sophomore Season (2017-18)
Eddins stunned the Division II wrestling community by defeating four of the top five-ranked wrestlers in the country at the national tournament on his way to becoming Pitt-Johnstown’s 13th national champion. Eddins, the runner-up at the Super Region I Tournament, finished with a 24-2 overall record and 14-0 dual meet record. His 14 dual meet wins tied for the team lead, while his 24 overall wins were second on the team. Eddins also led the Mountain Cats in decisions (13) and major decision (5) and was tied for second in falls (5). He earned a spot on the All-PSAC Team with a third-place finish at the conference championships.
Junior Season (2018-19)
Eddins, who moved from 141 to 149 lbs., made his junior season just as special as his sophomore season by winning his second straight NCAA Division II National Championship with a perfect 24-0 overall record and 17-0 record in dual meets. Eddins, the Super Region I Wrestler of the Year, won his second regional title and ranked second in the NCAA Most Dominant Wrestler category. He led the team in major decisions (6) and technical falls (6), was tied for second in victories (24), and was second in dual meet wins (17) and falls (5).
High School
Four-year letterman...senior season record of 46-4… career record of 142-37...three-time PIAA State Qualifier… 2014 PIAA State Champion at 152 lbs....also placed sixth at the PA State Tournament in 2013...three-time sectional champion, 2014 WPIAL champion, and three-time regional place-winner, including champion in 2014… recipient of United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award.
