Biography

At Pitt-Johnstown
2021-22
As a sophomore in 2021-22, Makalyn Clapper was the Mountain Cats’ leader in steals (64) and ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 9.7 points per game and third in rebounding at 5.5 rebounds per game.  Clapper, the PSAC West Co-Athlete of the Week on Jan, 21, 2022, also paced Pitt-Johnstown in 3-point field goal percentage (39.1%) and was third in 3-pointers made (27).  Her 64 steals ranked fourth in the PSAC and 59th nationally.  Clapper scored in double figures 15 times, had five or more rebounds 21 times, and made three or more steals 11 times.

Clapper has single-games highs of 23 points against at Millersville University on Dec. 4, 2021, 11 rebounds against Edinboro University on Jan. 17, 2022, four assists on two occasions, and seven steals against Kutztown on Nov. 24, 2019.

2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
 
2019-2020
Makalyn Clapper, the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on Nov. 25, 2019, averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2019-20.  Clapper played in all 29 of Pitt-Johnstown’s games and was second on the team in steals with 48.  She also had 12 3-pointers, 25 assists, and five blocked shots.
 
Clapper is majoring in Psychology.  She is the daughter of David Clapper.
 
 
At Penn Cambria High School
Makalyn Clapper, a 2018-19 PIAA AAA All-State selection, ended her career at Penn Cambria High School with 1,184 points, 912 rebounds, and 546 steals.

A four-year letter-winner in both basketball and volleyball and a one-year letter-winner in track and field, Clapper was an Altoona Mirror All-Star choice in basketball and volleyball after leading Penn Cambria to District 6 titles and the school’s first PIAA State Tournament wins in both sports.

As a track and field athlete, Clapper qualified for the District 6 Meet in the 300-Meter Hurdles and High Jump.

Clapper was coached by Keith Saleme at Penn Cambria High School.
