Biography

At Pitt-Johnstown

2008-09 Season
Andy played in all 32 of the Mountain Cats’ games in 2008-09 and averaged 5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Andy’s 36.8% (28-76) shooting from behind the three-point line ranked second on the team, while his 28 three-pointers ranked fourth. Andy also shot 42.5% (54-127) from the field and 80.0% from the free-throw line. He made 15 steals and blocked one shot. Andy scored in double-figures three times, pulled down four or more rebounds six times and dished out three or more assists six times. Through three seasons, Andy has posted highs of 16 points on 7-8 shooting from the field and 2-2 from three-point range at Ohio Valley (WV) University on Dec. 4, 2008, eight rebounds against Salem International (WV) University on Feb. 23, 2009 and eight assists against West Virginia Wesleyan College on Jan. 12, 2008.

2007-08 Season
Andy played in every game off of Coach Rukavina’s bench and averaged 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 13 minutes per game. He shot a perfect 11-11 from the free-throw line and finished second on the team in three-point field goal percentage (42.0%) and third in three-pointers made (34).

2006-07 Season
Andy saw action in 29 of Pitt-Johnstown’s 30 games after red-shirting as a true freshman. In just under 10 minutes per game, Andy averaged 2.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He finished fifth on the team with 17 three-point field goals. Andy ended his red-shirt freshman season shooting 29.6% (21-71) from the field, 30.9% (17-55) from three-point range and 25.0% (1-4) from the free-throw line.

At Conemaugh Township Area High School
Andy played for head coach Scott Cable at Conemaugh Township High School, where he averaged 24.1 points (699 points), 7.7 rebounds (224 rebounds), 3.1 assists (91 assists) and 4.5 steals (91 steals) per game on his way to being named Associated Press Second-Team All-State following the 2004-05 season. He was also named to the 2004-05 West-Pac All-Conference Team and led Conemaugh Township to a pair of District V championships in 2002 and 2005. Andy’s 2,360 career points are second in school history behind his cousin and former Mountain Cat standout Paul Byer. His 2,360 points also rank third all-time in Somerset County history and 37th in Pennsylvania state history. Andy, the Somerset County “Outstanding Senior” in 2004-05 and four-time All-Somerset County First Team selection, also holds several school records, including most three-point field goals in a career (218), most games played in a career (111) and most steals in a season (131). Andy earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 2004 Pitt-Johnstown Alumni Association Mountain Cat Tournament and the 2004 Boswell Jaycees Tournament. His 41 points in a game in the Mountain Cat Tournament are a single-game record.
