2009-10 Season
Danny Branch earned Second-Team All-WVIAC honors after leading the team in scoring (17.4 ppg.), three-point field goals made (74) and steals (31). Branch, who started all 29 games, was second on the team in blocks (23), third in three-point field-goal percentage (38.1%), assists (80) and rebounding (4.0 rpg.). He also shot 46.0% (186-404) from the field and 64.8% (59-91) from the free-throw line. In the final NCAA statistics, Branch ranked 55th in three-point field-goal percentage, 66th in three-pointers per game and 93rd in scoring. Branch scored 20 points at Shepherd (WV) University on Feb. 27 to become the Mountain Cats’ 21st 1,000-point scorer. He enters the 2010-11 season ranked 17th on Pitt-Johnstown’s All-Time Scoring List with 1,047 points. He also ranks second on the Mountain Cats’ All-Time Career Three-Point Field Goals Made with 186, four shy of tying Steve Scorpion for the school record. Branch led the team in scoring nine times as a junior. Branch has career highs of 33 points at Fairmont State (WV) University, including seven three-pointers, on Jan. 28, 2010. He pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds against Bloomsburg University on Nov. 29, 2009 and 10 at West Virginia State University on Jan. 11, 2010. Branch also dished out seven assists vs. West Virginia Wesleyan College on Jan. 23, 2010.
2008-09 Season
In 32 games played, Branch averaged 8.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. His 52 three-pointers ranked second on the team, while his 27 steals tied him for third on the team. Branch shot 36.2% (96-265) from the field, 29.2% (52-178) from three-point range and 61.9% (13-21) from the free-throw line. He scored in double-figures 12 times and pulled down five or more rebounds 10 times. Branch also made five three-pointers in a game three times. Branch posted season highs of 19 points on two occasions, 10 rebounds against Bloomsburg University on Nov. 29 and four assists at Ohio Valley (WV) University on Dec. 4.
2007-08 Season
Branch played in all 31 Mountain Cat games as a true freshman and finished as the team leader in three-point field goal percentage (45.8%, 60-131) and three-pointers made (60). He was fourth in scoring at 9.2 points per game on his way to earning a spot on the WVIAC All-Freshmen Team. He also averaged 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. His 45.8% three-point field goal percentage ranked second in the WVIAC. Branch wrapped up his freshman season shooting 47.1% (99-210) from the field and 64.3% (27-42) from the free-throw line. Branch had season-highs of 19 points and seven rebounds at Fairmont State (WV) University on Jan. 10, 2008 and three assists on three occasions.
At Archbishop Carroll High School
Branch played for Head Coach Clinton Perrow at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C., where he earned Honorable Mention All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference honors as a junior and Second-Team All-Conference accolades as a senior. In 2006-07, Branch averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Branch also earned Most Valuable Player honors in a preliminary game after scoring 26 points in the prestigious McDonald’s Capital Classic held at the University of Maryland. He posted career-highs of 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, all against Dematha High School. Academically, Branch was an honor student at Archbishop Carroll High School.
